Post by: LashSlash on December 07, 2010, 03:17:18 AM
from a text:-

From the moment we met, his mind kept me on my toes. A discusser and dissecter of all manner of things.....

how should this be spelled??
..A discusser and dissectOr of all manner of things.....
..A discusser and dissect-er of all manner of things.....

my spell check gives to many options

Your spellchecker is showing its ignorance. Dissector can only have an 'or' ending.

I concur.  :afro:

There is nothing worse than a confused Spellcheck. -- I get (no spelling suggestions), all the time, which is remarkably unhelpful. Its red zigzag underline gets quite irate, sometimes. You'd think it would get used to it.  ::)

googledocs spellchecker shows a red line under discusser -- suggests: discuss-er.....

mmmmmm..... maybe my sentence should be rewitten to accomadate the correct use of discuss....  ????

That's because 'discusser' isn't a word. However, if it were, it would have that spelling.  ;)

My dictionary has discusser in it.

That said, when I bought the dirctionary it never had the letter S in it at all, so it may not be the world's greatest dictionary (the shop did exchange it for a whole 26 letter one).
