Let's just pretend I've never been gone and mock my attempt at spooky instead ay

How I loved the Mother of Pearl
heirloom of an undersea world
A lady rich of good and doughty
She was gentle and never haughty
Once I saw her rise from the waves
Followed by her merman knaves
The water iridescent and calm
The air was a lush scent of balm
Her shine the brightest of light
That could dawn the darkest night
I found myself trembling with fear
As she whispered this in my ear

mortal men will die alone
bemoan an end most brutal
all their great cities sprawling
calling out behind the wall
lands of riches and no ill
will sink below to the sands
there we will await you
do you a grace most rare
a choosing of life and death
breath lost or become a fey

her prophecy of doom that day
left me in horror and disarray
I said naught to anyone I knew
I only chose to confide with you
the fateful hour is creeping near
wind winnows the grass to sear
a steady round of animal applause
For a troubling and devilish cause
I feel strings snapping in my heart
As if hit by the marksman's dart
Soon I will join the Mother of Pearl
When I sink to her aquatic world.
