We've got some great writers here, and it struck me that we really ought to get on and do a communal story.  The idea is that you pick up where the previous person left off and write anything up to about 100 words to move the story on.

We'll have two threads - one straight and scary - the other humorous and silly.  Perhaps we can have one shadow the other, line for line, but with a different slant on events.

Everybody's welcome to join in and take part, so don't be shy :afro:  In theory, we should be able to come up with a novel length work in under a year.  We'll see how it goes, but if it turns out well, we could maybe publish it as a book and have all the profits from sales of the book go to a charity.  With this in mind (thinking ahead), if you take part in this project, by posting in this thread you give permission for your work in connection with this thread to be used in a publication, all proceeds of which you understand will be donated to charity rather than being split between the authors.  Choice of which charity will benefit will be decided later, by poll - majority rules the vote.

Any thoughts before we start the ball rolling?

Sounds like fun! Can we post to both?

Yeah - of course we can post to both  :afro:  The great thing about it is that it won't take much keeping up with - there's no strict word limit or commitment

I even wondered if we could do this to an outline, so we know what's coming next and just have to write it, or whether that would be too restrictive and would put people off participating?  Sometimes these things stall through a lack of direction - that's what I'm thinking

Who would write the outline? Seems a tad restrictive, IMO, but your point about stalling is a valid one. I always like to see where someone else goes with the next bit. It becomes addictive.

Yeah - I think you're right.  Better to let it run in a natural progression.  That's half the fun of it, isn't it?

We can always add a steering post or edit to ease a stalled thread back into life again, if necessary

This sounds really fun
Ah,  could ya point me in the right direction, lovey?  Seems I don't know where to post my 100 word entry.

(I see there is another Sharon on here: SharonBell, so I will use my other first name: Shay.  Those of us with multiple personalities have a plethora of choices on the naming game, eh?)

No probs  :afro:  I keep meaning to get on and write a bit more on each of them myself, but I've been too busy finishing up my story for the current crit session.  Will do some more over the next few days

Hi, blunt!

I'm baaaaack, finally!  Didn't expect to be off here so long....there was a storm and it fubared me internet connection :hot: If it so much as thunders the connection goes down.  Then it's hell tryin to get her up and running again!  (of course today she's runnin about as fast as a broke-legged dog)  I hate for PCs to be soooo sllloooowww.  I gotta get a new one soon, maybe I won't have to worry bout it so much!

Good luck with your story.  Maybe I'll see it soon, eh?  In the critter's section here?  Shite, I gotta get me own story over there, too...

My story's already up there and getting savaged - where's yours?  Hmm?  Hmm?

Sorry to hear you've got internet woes.  My comp's running a bit slow too - think I've got too many progs on here or something

Mine's right here, blunt!  Ye want it?  Well, come on an get it... what are ye waitin for?  :pissed:

Hahaha...just feckin with ye!  Me own story is sittin pretty at the bottom of the screen as I type.  So,

My PC gets smoking mad when I load it up as I usually do.  I log into three sites and run the media player with metal rock and videos and run the wordpad, too.  And I often leave a free window for surfing....   there is something fundaMENTALLY wrong with me, ain't there?

I'm pretty much the same - I've usually got music blasting out, at least up until the kids go to bed.  That's why I hate websites with music built-in.  I'll hit one at say 11pm and  :o the damn thing's blasting out at full volume and I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof trying to turn it down or off before I wake the little darlings - my wife leers at me, with that look like "you ain't getting any for a while now"

   Does that mean I might actually be normal?  YAY!

I've got the young'uns trained pretty well, the 6 yr old falls asleep to Van Helsing on the telly or to metal music on the radio.  But the websites with it built in are a pain, I usually click on one when I'm in the middle of some business discussion and the telephone is stuck to me ear.  Yah, I'm on here even when I'm supposed to be payin attention to me business affairs, eck.  I've got the hard drive turned arse-towards me so that when this trouble blasts out I can just yank the speaker plug  :afro:  Then I have to act like I was payin attention, "No, I didn't hear anythin.  Been takin notes on what you're sayin.  Must've been on yer end of the line."
