I can see your hole future.....
"Lord, here comes the flood, we will say goodbye to flesh and blood. If, again, the seas are silent in any still alive, it'll be those who gave their island to survive. Drink up, dreamers, you're running dry."
Peter Gabriel.

I was raised in a strict Catholic family. I was raised believing God would strike me dead with lightning if I DARED do anything like miss church, curse, or kiss a boy in public!
As a young adult, I pulled away, only to find myself sucked into a group of those 'fanatic zealots'!! My life was more misreable than ever! Yet, I stayed in it for at least 10 or 15 years! Oh, they're very convincing! I won't go into everything they made me do, but one was, they made me stop taking my thyroid medication because they claimed I didn't have faith enough in God to heal me. I would up miscarrying two babies because of it.
To this day, I freak and cringe when I see these people or hear them on TV.
I believe in God, the Holy Trinity, but I do NOT believe in forcing my personal beliefs on others!

And, Blunt, you're right about them picking out certain Bible scriptures and claiming ONLY THEY know the meaning! BULL!
They also pick and choose scriptures of THEIR convenience!
I was told, when I pulled out, that I was going to burn in Hell because I was an irresponsible parent by taking my children away from church. Some of them need to open a damn concordance and look up the meaning of the word 'church'!! It isn't a building, but one's spirit.
I'm sorry, now I'm ranting. It's just such a sore subject with me because I was a victim of their mind control!! It took years of therapy to get UNbrainwashed!!

Oh, man - I'm sorry to hear you went through all that with the God-squad, Lanie.  I really can't think of any kinds of institutions more evil and manipulating than some of these religious groups.  Good for you, for having the strength to get away and protect your children from their influence.

It's such a waste of life, IMO, to live in the misery of strict observance of all their petty little rules (and that's what they are - their rules, not God's).  Where's the joy?  And if that's a taste of the heaven to come in the afterlife - don't bother waking me up for it - I'd rather go with the big sleep. :afro:
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]
