...but I'm not quite sure what to use for inspiration.  Plus, I'm not sure whether or not to run two comps - one for authors and one for artists, or whether to just do one, seeing as tho we didn't get any submissions at all from authors last time

Anybody got any ideas for inspiring images/writing?  What do you reckon - two comps or one?  Up to you guys to decide, so lets have your opinion on it plz ;D
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Well the picture did not appeal to me at all.  I tried forcing something out.  But if people could do that we wouldn't need laxatives :)

Title game definitely seems easier, and sorry about the lack of effort, been doing a lot lately.  Almost like having a life!!! :O

Getting my stuff together and tryingto get money to go back to school, getting ready for xmas with my chilluns, etc.

But title game still seems better then writing a story for a pic IMHO

It's up to you at the end of the day but I wouldn't mind seeing both again, as I said I would have entered both

I did take a quick look at the art one though and little really came to mind either. They weren't easy at all, not that they are meant to be or anything

Yup, we don't want anybody bursting any bloodvessels with the strain of it all - maybe the last one was a little too ambitious

I know for sure that if we set a comp for the artists to deface a face we would get a ton of entries, but after a few comps it would get a bit samey.  The title game does seem to be a good way of getting started on a story, so it might work the same for images.  If we set a comp for both around the same title it could actually work out quite well, with the image and story complimenting each other too   Yeah, good stuff

That's what I think we'll end up doing.  Thanks for the input, guys :)

How about alternating comps: one month gfx, the next the written word?

As for inspiration, perhaps something along the lines of the TG might be better.

I would have entered the writing comp, but as a moderator, this may have been perceived as slightly dodgy  ;)

Writing, when properly managed, (as you may be sure I think mine is) is but a different name for conversation.

Yeah, I did wonder about doing that, and I think subsequent comps will be along those lines - purely from the standpoint of funding them, it'll get a little expensive to do two a month indefinitely.  I'll get the google ads and other bits and bobs set up soon, and we'll see what that brings in to help.  Whatever does come in will be ploughed back into the comps, etc. :)

I would like everybody to be able to enter the comps, Trog, so, if you like, we can make a poll to see how everybody feels about mods entering comps - if members are happy to let you go ahead, it's OK with me.

You're a good man really

Sorry Neuro, I have to disagree with you on this. Personally, I thought the picture was a good source of inspiration: plenty of scope for cloning gone mad/dual personalitytype of stuff. But I also think if you're not really grabbed very early on, then yes, it is very difficult to try and force a story out of nothing. Better luck next time ;D

do a comp every 3 months, for both, or make it seasonal, means ya dont have to feel rushed and still submit more work within the given time.
