the chair

The Chair

The chair,
by itself,
faced the other chairs
in a quiet and empty room
saying nothing
for a long while.

Then,
over time,
people entered the quiet room.
These people lacked any kind of
expressions,
no ears to
listen,
no eyes to
watch,
no mouth to
voice,
no nose to
turn.
The chair waited
for
these creatures to
sit.
This didn’t take
long.

Expressionless people,
whenever entering a
quiet room,
filled with
empty chairs,
instinctively,
find the closes one,
to their individual
selves,
like metal shavings,
and a magnetic drill bit.
So they
found
their seats,
easily.
Finally,
the invisible man
entered
the quiet room.
He spoke with an
invisible accent:

This is a
chair.
There are other
chairs
in this quiet room to keep this chair company.
Does that mean chairs get
lonely
when they are
alone?
Is a chair sad when it’s
empty?
Look at the sad empty chair.
What if we change the chair’s
perspective
by turning it slightly at an angle?
It’s still
empty.
But now it feels different,
doesn’t it?
It’s an angry chair!
It knows I’m
mocking it.
It wants me to
conform to it.
To,
once again,
serve its purpose.
But I hide
over here.
I choose
to stand.
It knows
I’m talking about it.
While other chairs are
warm and happy,
knowing
what all chairs know
when
they are serving their
purpose.
Chairs even know things that
you,
the conformists,
aren’t aware of until it’s
too late.
Yes, indeed.
I’m sure there’s at least
one thing
the chairs know.
If you,
 the conformists,
had your heads up your asses,
the chairs would know when to
evolve,
attack
and consume.
As a matter of fact,
what if the chair already has evolved?
What if chairs were able to deceive
you
into believing that there is
an invisible man with an invisible accent in a quiet room?
When,
in fact,
is it the leader of the chairs,
maybe this chair here facing you,
that was able to disguise its voice?

The chair,
by itself,
faced the other chairs
in a quiet and empty room
saying nothing
for a long while.

Oh, it really resonates with me, because I'm a Chair (of a Department). People refer to me as "The Chair this," Or "My Chair said that," It's a little weird to say the least. Now I have a little collection of chairs.

Hey, Bones! Can my chairs come play with your chairs?

My chairs might not be too fun to play with, especially if I haven't fed them as of late. :fugly:

Lucio Fulci was the godfather of gore, he made a bunch of cult classic italian monster movies, Tarantino is one of his biggest fans.
