Heh - good job I'm married. Woke up this morning completely oblivious to the fact the clocks went forward by an hour last night. I wonder how long it would have taken me to realise if my wife hadn't told me

Daft, really - I was saying a couple of weeks ago that the clocks would be going forward in a couple of weeks time. Clocks went forward in the States last weekend. How many more reminders did I need? ::)

Aybody else forget?

I didn't forget but while out on my 30 miles to get a sunday paper bicycle ride this morning I met two guys who were so much in a hurry to get to work - prob, like you hadn't adjusted their watches - they tried to take a short cut in their car.

All this *spring forward, fall back*stuff is so darned petty. Why can't we go big-time and adjust calendars? First day of winter, flip a few pages ... bingo ... overnight it's summer again. Don't like Christmas -- no sweat; calendar adjustment can take you straight to an Easter barbecue. Neil

PS: Geoff -- our scrabble game's still lost in the ether. Will try again tomorrow. Right now I'm making a schedule adjustment and declaring bedtime. N

I bet those lads won't be borrowing Mum's car again anytime soon  When I think of all the near misses I had when I was young, I dread to think of letting my boys take to two or even four wheels.

Neil - sounds good in theory, but I guess that's the kind of freedom that's actually (sort of) possible for the mega rich, who fly between their various homes around the world to suit the seasonal changes. I wouldn't mind a bit of that myself :afro: That week of blue skies and sun I had in Lanzerote during January was the best and most welcome holiday I can remember.

I like Lanzagrotty too. In particular the interior moonscape volcanic scenery. Science fiction plots deluge me when I walk on those sharp red / black rocks. I can't say I appreciate much of the Playas Las Americas fish n chips, bingo and English pubs scene on the east coast, but even that has plot and character potential!

But for an injection of warmth and sunshine, it is a great antidote to the British winter, which is most of the year...
