I've had one eye on the telly for a while tonight, and a programme has just come on about relatively old virgins trying to lose their virginity. One is a woman of forty-three, who's decided to lose it to an escort. Another is a twenty-nine year old man who basically has no confidence, a squeaky voice and a receding chin, poor bugger. Finally, there's the most tragic one of the three - a forty-nine year old man who has tried to lose his virginity to prostitutes before, but has never managed it. His story is unbelievably sad. At the age of twenty, he was at a party where a girl pushed him up against a wall and kissed him passionately. It was his first kiss, and he said he thought at the time it was the beginning of his life. Turned out the girl had glandular fever. He caught it from her and it left him paralysed. He can now walk with the aid of sticks, but the best encounter of his life turned out to be the worst, too. How sad is that? :/
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]
