Is it just me, or is it awfully fortuitous for the latest strain of foot and mouth disease to wreak havok on the Surrey countryside to have accidentally escaped from a lab that makes foot and mouth vaccine?   After the last outbreak the government reserved the right to use vaccine to bring any future outbreaks under control. Could it be that somebody somewhere looked into their fridge and thought it a shame to keep so much vaccine as stock and never make any money from it?

Or am I being unreasonably cynical? :idiot:
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Research scientists have the same ability to be bad as to be good as the rest of the population, so methinks it a plausible idea, Ed. And a great story idea.

Of course, some of us have had foot IN mouth disease all their lives...with no cure in sight! ;D
