Phew, what weekend!  The fundrasier I went to had burlesque dancers, which is not something I expected haha I also had time to check one of my favourite bookshops - if anyone goes to Nottingham, there are two bookshops owned/ran by Geoff Blore.  Both are on Mansfield Road, one is on a stretch surrounded by shops and near pubs like The Golden Fleece, the other is further up in Sherwood, near The Chestnut Tree pub.  I wholeheartedly recommend folks check 'em out - they're the very definition of 'treasure trove'.  Shelves and shelves and shelves of old books, antique books, rare books etc etc etc.  I picked up the novelization of the old horror film Willard (about a guy who controls rats) and a Stephen Laws novel.  I love his work and it's a shame he seems to have dropped off the radar after the late 90's, despite getting some real glowing reviews (and writing some cracking horror). Just got back from getting my haircut to have my dad go 'looks a bit scratty'.  Guess that's why it cost £6.50!  :cheesy:

Thanks, Rev, I will check them out cos my son lives in Top Valley, Nottingham near Mansfield Road. My Exit, Pursued by a Bee is stocked in the Waterstones in Nott city centre.

Lucky break for you to admire the burlesque dancers - now if only bookshops offered...

Well well, my girlfriend lives in Top Valley, fancy that!  Suffice to say I'm in Notts on a regular basis and Waterstones is always visited - I'll look out for your book next time I'm there  ;)

Microsoft - what a bunch of bastards. My son's xbox 360 got the red ring of death on it. We sent it off to get repaired and they sent it back saying the case had been tampered with, so they refuse to fix it. Now, back when we bought the damn thing from Tesco (last one they had) we noticed that the packaging had been opened, as had one of the free games with it - that's the only time I can think of when it might have been tampered with. Nevertheless, I took the stupid thing apart myself last night, and found the Microsoft seals are still intact.

Leaves me wondering if it's just Microsoft trying to wriggle out of fixing a defective product (one they apparently know has a built-in problem) or whether we should be blaming Tesco for giving us a second hand machine.

Why's everything got to be so damn complicated? ::)
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Whilst one loves to blame Microsoft for everything at every possible opportunity, I'd have said Tescos are the bad guys here, Ed.

Rev. Austin

I concur.  Microsoft have been excellent with me, and I've gone through a couple of 360's in the last few years, (and I fibbed a little bit the last time I sent it to them and got a brand new machine) so I'd complain to Tescos, although I guess there's no "proof"...unless you still have the reciept...?

I walked 18 miles yesterday - feet sore this morning. 6 miles to and fro from house to station. 12 miles in Northern Snowdonia. Brilliant. photos on my facebook at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/profile.php?ref=profile&id=735175586

Wow. Years since I walked that sort of distance, but I'd do it like a shot if I could and if it gave me views like that. I love the mountains behind Penmaenmawr. Haven't been there for years. Must get back one of these days. Where I live I have easy access to the Northern Pennines and the Lake District, but beautiful though they are, they're simply not Snowdonia.

Hey, your T-shirt must have done the job, Rev, because ...

'Robin Hood and Friar Tuck: Zombie Killers by Paul A. Freeman' has entered the top 50 zombie books on Amazon (at #42 to be exact!)

Wow, that's brilliant, DW. I was chuffed when my Escaping Reality reached the top 1,000 at Amazon thrillers in 2006 but top 50 is amazing. I could never fathom the relationship between number of sales and Amazon rankings but it must be nothing but good for you!
