I'm in!    And now, if you will excuse me, I have to toss out all my coffee. The way I feel right now, I'm never going to need it again  :cheesy:

Cool, you got a story in? WHich one, what's it about?

I sent in "Memory Lane." The story follows a man who, after being openly gay for years, becomes haunted by the spirit of his long-dead wife. Or is it all in his head?

Ed

Cool - well done, Ash :afro: You're placing stories all over the place, these days

Well done, Ash! And well done Paul Freeman (DesertWomble) who's also in it, along with moi. I'm very proud to be sharing the pages of such an important anthology with you both. :afro: Let's hope it really does help Preditors and Editors raise the money they need.

I must say, my main reason for submitting was to help P&E rather than to stick the boot into PA. We've all known new writers who've been heading to disaster with one scam or another and been able to pull them back from the brink by pointing them in the right direction - ie. P&E.

Anyhow, it's great to be in such esteemed company!

Let's hope we can make a bit of a difference.

I lost the plot on the PA legal wrangle some time last year. What was the outcome ... or is it still a WIP? Neil

I never heard any more about it after the initial furore

I never heard anything else either and I was one of the authors who gave up a story. You'd think they'd have let us know, wouldn't you?

PA, in the meantime, has written to all its authors with a wonderful offer. You can have your royalties cheque framed (in plastic) for just $19!!!! (They send you a duplicate cheque so you can pay it into the bank as well.)

Several issues here. PA is always keen NOT to be seen as a vanity press (reasonably enough, as they aren't. I never paid a penny to be published by them) so they shouldn't do these pathetic vanity style promotions. $19 sounds a lot to me for a piece of plastic, and presumably there's postage and packing on top of that. However, as they have thousands of authors, I suppose they see this as quick and easy way to make a bit of cash out of them. Tsk tsk. I suspect that PA, like everyone else, is having cash flow problems at the moment -- why else would they now be offering authors massive discounts on their own books, with a money back guarantee on unsold copies? What on earth are they going to do with any unsold copies that are returned? Of course, their 'get out' clause is the fact that copies have to be returned in perfect condition, but I suspect there will be plenty of authors who will leap at this 'safe' way to buy up stock of their books. I won't be among them. If people want to buy the book, they can go through the usual channels (amazon market place, or any of the other big internet sellers) and I'll be happy with my (unframed) royalties cheque at the end of six months.

I donated a story as well and haven't heard a thing.

I thought the case is just taking a loooooooong time. I needed to email Davd Kuzminski on another matter so I've asked him for an update.

I had a note from Dave Kuzminski

"Trial takes place in Richmond, Virginia on Feb 3-4, 2009. I believe I'm ready to face them and win."

Good luck to him

Ditto - I hope he kicks their ass :afro:

Thanks for the update, Geoff.

The court case ended and although the details are unclear it seems that PA won their case against Dave Kuzminski and P&E. There's a rumour that Dave will have to pay about 250k dollars in damages.

Dave posted a message saying 'Sadly, the truth did not prevail today. I am looking into filing an appeal."

It is a sad day - outrageous really. So much for justice.
