I take it she's just on her hols somewhere, but she seems to have dropped off the radar five days ago, so I wondered if anybody knew for certain?
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

She said this in the critters August Session:

QuoteI'm away end July/beginning August, and the story I was going to sub is no longer available (due to unexpected shortlisting in a comp), but I could put in a chapter of the current novel instead, if that's acceptable.

So I expect we'll hear from her shortly.

Yep she's away from Bibliophorum and UKAuthors too. Fancy us missing her already.

Wonder if she took my book with her on her hols ;)

Ah, thanks, Jerry - I had a niggling feeling that I'd missed something. :afro:

Geoff - hows the audio recording of your book going? Are Jon and his mate still working on it/finished/not yet started?

Ah, that's one for me.
Received the big hulking scripts yesterday, so we're going through them and looking at the characters now. Because of availability issues with the performers we're going to have to record the narration at different times than the dialogue. A lot of the dialogue will have to be done at weekends because Matt performs in Buddy every evening. We're planning to make a start on Monday.
Very excited about it! I also have a meeting with a new agent tomorrow, so it feels like my career is jumping up a gear.

Sounds like a great project, Jon. It must be wonderful to have so many talented friends IRL

Jon and talented mates are just recording the first chapter first. This is then sent to Double Dragon Publishing for them to check format, sound levels etc. Would be a possible waste of time for Jon to spend a huge chunk of time only to be told that DDP preferred a different bit rate! 99% sure it will be fine. It is very exciting. I'm under no allusion that I'll make dough on the project even though audio books seem to have a brighter future than ebooks and paper books.

Yep - I think audio books will rise in popularity as time goes by. There are lots of people undertaking long commutes every day, and with the ease of use loading them onto an iPod or whatever and the effortless nature of listening to somebody reading, I think they have a tremendous advantage over e-books.
