Unbelievable what some people will do. Humans are much scarier than any supernatural creature we can invent :idiot:

On April 28th, like something straight of a Rob Zombie flick, a disabled Bakersfield man, Angel Vidal Mendoza Sr., wigged out and is accused of biting out one eye and mutilating the other of his 4-year old son, Angelo Mendoza Jr. The child was rushed to Mercy Hospital after police said that the child claimed, "My daddy ate my eyes." Doctors are unsure if his vision could be salvaged.

After attacking his son, the demented dad left the apartment in his wheelchair, made his way to a nearby backyard and hacked his legs with an ax, severely injuring himself. Police later said that he was "was displaying symptoms of being under the influence of PCP."

This wasn't a first time for Mendoza to apparently be under the influence of PCP. Back in 2006, he and the boy's mother, Desirae Marie Bermudez, pleaded no contest to child endangerment.

Mendoza remains in jail, his bail set at one million dollars. He is charged with mayhem, torture, child cruelty and inflicting an injury to a child.

Or is it the things that humans are capable of, that makes the stuff that underlies our inventions? I mean it has to come from somewhere doesn't it?

Very scary indeed.  :hidin:

Would make an excellent scene in a film I think.   :o

I think the most chilling part is the thought of an innocent four year-old kid, with a blood soaked bandage around his head, saying, "My daddy ate my eyes." I shudder at the thought. Can't understand anybody doing that to a child, let alone their own son. It goes against every paternal instinct a man should have. Incredible.

True, but I like to think my paternal instinct would be stronger than any chemical I introduced into my system. I know that's probably not realistic where psychotropic drugs are involved, and that's one of the myriad reasons why I don't and never would take them.

Part of what makes this story so abhorrent for me is that four year-old kids tend to be so cute, innocent and trusting. Even in the aftermath of this ordeal it's obvious the child doesn't appreciate the enormity of what has happened to him. He still refers to this monstrous man as 'Daddy' and he relates what has happened to him by way of a simple statement, with no embellishment, no sense of loss, hurt or hatred. It's an object lesson in hard hitting dialogue.
