Actor, David Carradine, died today :/

US actor David Carradine, the star of television series Kung Fu and the Kill Bill movies, was found dead Thursday, the US embassy here confirmed as police said they suspected suicide.

"We can confirm that Mr. Carradine passed away in Bangkok today," a US embassy official told AFP.

"He was found in his hotel room in Bangkok but the cause of death has not yet been established," the official said.

A police official said he suspected Carradine had committed suicide, after the actor's body was discovered in his hotel room.

"We suspect that he committed suicide by hanging himself," local police officer Pirom Janthapirom told AFP, adding that security cameras showed no one else going in or out of Carradine's room.

If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, the chances are he hung himself, I'd say. What's with, "the cause of death has not yet been established"? I wasn't there or anything, but I'd say the noose around his neck was a bit of a give away ::) My guess is it was the first time that particular police spokesperson had ever been interviewed by the media. Probably got flustered and just started babbling. :idiot:

All that aside, what a shame. Seems like a particularly sad way to bow out - on his own, far from home. Still, not quite as sad as Robert Palmer, who died in a Welsh B&B on the first leg of his comeback tour. That has got to be the pits of showbiz deaths. That and Elvis overdosing on the crapper, with his pants around his ankles and no doubt a final offering in the bowl below. That's pretty sad, too.

No, I give the most embarrassing showbiz death to the guy  from INXS who died while committing auto-erotic asphyxiation. :2funny:

Most showbiz deaths are anticlimatic, it seems.  Or just sad.  Especially Rock n roll deaths.  Jim Morrison, Cobain (saw that coming a mile away), GG Allin, the guy from Joy Division...

But I grew up with that show.  I'll miss him, even though most of his films stink.

Yeah, Michael Hutchins's foray into auto-erotic asphyxiation was made all the worse in the sad stakes by the fact he was on his own, having a tug, rather than doing it with a gorgeous fan, of which he had many. And let's face it, if you're experimenting with something that might just kill you, the chances are you wouldn't opt to do it alone - you would make sure there was somebody around to revive you if things went wrong, if you had any sense, that is.

Just goes to show that fame and fortune doesn't shield a person from misfortune, doesn't it? If anything it seems to act as a magnet for it, in some instances at least.

Seeking ever greater thrills...

Though in Michael's case there's an arguement that it was the knock on the head when he fell off his bike and cracked his skull on the kerb that did for him. Thereafter his personality changed for the worse, according to that excellent documentary that was on the box not so long ago.

I just read on CNN news that suicide as cause of death for Mr. Carradine may be ruled out.  They "think" foul play, but apparently he had a yellow cord wrapped around his genitals as well, so who knows what the hell happened.  Actor Michael Madsen  stated "Carradine had problems but was never suicidal".

I don't know, it sounds odd.

He didn't have a loop of "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree" playing on the CD, did he?

Maybe he was doing a Michael Hutchins job?
