Whenever you're stuck for a character name it's nice to have a resource handy that'll give you a choice. There are quite a few name generators on the internet, but here are a few of the best.

This isn't so much of a generator as a factually based resource, which even breaks things down into ethnicity. Very handy - http://names.mongabay.com/

A straighforward generator - http://www.kleimo.com/random/name.cfm

And another - http://www.thescriptvault.com/res.html

Really like this one, too - http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/gen-male-hu-uk.php
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

These are pretty cool Ed, cheers for posting them.
I usually combine a friend's first name with another friend's last name, but this doesn't always work if the name doesn't sound like it'd belong to someone from the region featured in the story...
