This makes my brain hurt. I don't really understand it all, but to stop Google ripping you off by digitalising your book (or to claim payment from them if they already have) you're supposed to register with the Settlement people by 5th Jan. This applies to books published before 2009, but not to anthologies. I went to the Society of Authors' webpage and followed their instructions, and it took all of two minutes to register my poetry collection, 'wormwood, earth and honey'. I was amazed. It probably wasn't necessary, as I doubt if the powers that be at Google have much interest in my poems, but you never know.

Hoping that google loses that suit. Will lose a lot of books that you can get for free on the net now, for no other reason but for google to recieve a profit from it.

@ Dragoro : why would losing free books be considered bad ? Outside of copyrighted stuff, of course .

Dragoro

Cause right now ya can get those books at many sites for free. If google wins this suit, it would own the rights, and could if they decided to, charge for those books, where as we can get em for free now.
