My first ever CD flash challenge entry, 'Spotless', which I expanded to 2,000 words shortly after it appeared on Cafe Doom, has been published by 'The Weekly News' in the UK.

The prompt was a picture of a plastic dalmatian, as far as I recall.

Nice one, Womble. I remember that story well.

"If you want to write, write it. That's the first rule. And send it in, and send it in to someone who can publish it or get it published. Don't send it to me. Don't show it to your spouse, or your significant other, or your parents, or somebody. They're not going to publish it."

Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Thanks, folks!

I actually have Cathy to thank for 'Spotless' seeing the light of day.

She told me about a site she belonged to where the weekly flash was going through a lean period.

So I joined, bumped the number of entries up from two to three, and I've been field testingg short story ideas on CD ever since.

Flashes are great for firing up story ideas - I'm glad people manage to keep the challenge going, even though I haven't used it much lately myself. I still read the entries every week. Thanks, all
