NANO! NANO?

Anybody doing NANOWRIMO this time around? I usually say to myself I'll do it at around about this time of the year, and then something comes up/I forget/or I just plain can't be bothered. In short, I've never actually completed one.

How's everybody else's record, and are you planning to do it this year? I don't think I am even going to bother kidding myself that I might do it this year

I'm going to give it a try this year.  I've got a couple of notebooks with outlines, random pages, ect and thought that it could hurt to try....

I used it last year to work on one novel I was already working on, but didn't get too far.  Might work on it a bit more again this year

The first year I ever participated, I was gung ho for about a week, then fell farther and farther behind on the word-count quotas (to "win" you need to write 1667 words per day) and eventually gave up. The next year I tried again, but found that I ended up using all my writing time to do research. 

I haven't tried it again, and I don't plan to do it this year, though some friends of mine have suggested that we participate in our own version of NaNoWriMo and just set lower quotas.

I tried Nanowrimo for the first time last year, and made it a good week before I fizzled out. I'm definitely gonna try again this year.

Time ain't on my side.  I don't know how people do it, but good luck to all who attempt the challenge.

I want to, but I'm going to have to wait for next year. Too much going on right now.

I'm not fond of such a regimented approach to writing (it should be fun, shouldn't it?) but I can see how it might motivate people to produce.

I signed up the last 2 years but never won.  This year I'm taking a different approach and hope it works.  Woohoo!

I had every intention of participating, even signed up, but I haven't written a single new word.

I'm participating this year, and am doing pretty well, as far as quantity goes. I'm at about 40k, but none of them are especially good words, to say the least. But it is helping me to see exactly what doesn't work with the idea, so the second draft will be hardly recognizable, I think. And will take quite a bit longer to get down than 30 days...

That's the problem with it, for me -- I don't write that way. I write slowly and carefully, and I generally edit as I go along, so when I've finished, I've finished. I could no more write a novel in thirty days than fly

I gave up after three days again. It's too discouraging to me when what I write is godawful and I have no time to edit and delete and edit some more. Maybe next year I'll be brave enough, we'll see.

I got to about 12K and I'm done.  November was just to busy for me.  I'll try again next year...maybe!

12k is still pretty good, especially when you had all those competition entries to read. I didn't have any time for anything else while I was doing that.
