I see there's a new TV series premiering in the US on Halloween, called The Walking Dead -- now that it's around, I suddenly find myself wondering why nobody's ever thought to do it before.

No doubt it'll make its way to the UK pretty soon.

Yep, it appears on FX on November 5th :D I've been reading the comic since forever - it's fkkking amazing (pardon my French).  Robert Kirkman (the creator) stated that he wanted to write a "never-ending zombie film" and so far he's covered about 18 months worth of the main characters' lives.  There have also been a few fair moments where I honestly had to put the comic down in shock because of what he did to certain characters, and by all accounts the show's looking set to be on a par with the source material so I'm exceptionally excited  :ugly:

Yeah, I've been bitching about the lack of Zombie TV shows for years. Hopefully they'll be able to pull it off. I decided to have a zombie marathon for my birthday today, but it didn't turn out so well. Zombie women of Satan was OK and mutant zombie vampires in the hood was passable, but biker zombies was so bad I turned it off, one turned out to be something I'd already seen under another name and the last had some English subs, but nowhere near enough to make sense of the plot. After that I watched the incubus, avenging angel, the tomb, and the naked and the living dead. The last one is the only one I would recommend, but i had to watch it without subs. Anybody seen anything good lately? I'm tired of watching crap.

Happy Birthday, fnord!

Sorry, I am woefully ignorant of non-crap zombie movies...crap zombie movies, as well.    :hidin:

The Walking Dead is on AMC here, which means, those of us stuck in the dark ages (a dial-up modem and no cable/satellite) are out of luck...  :(

Oh well, let's face it, I waste too much time watching TV, as it is. (Not that I am holding my breath, but PBS is airing a modern adaptation of sherlock holmes on Masterpiece Mystery, Sunday. I imagine it already aired in the UK. Modern adaptations make me nervous... :/)
I think, Sebastian, there for I am.

Happy birthday fnord!  I haven't seen any recent zombie films, except Dead Girl, which is excellent until the end when it really drops the ball.  I re-watched Tobe Hooper's Mortuary the other night - that's ace, and has a really cool Lovecraft vibe to it too.

Totally agree. Loved that movie.
I will be trying stay up to watch Walking Dead on Halloween. It's a bit past my bed time but what the hell. I loved the comic book when it started and I hope they do a good job with it.

AMC puts out some daring shows and I think this will be pretty damn good. And Happy Birthday Fnord!

Being more a SF chap, I liked the zombie element in the 2007 Will Smith film,  I AM LEGEND, loosely based on the book of the same name by Richard Matheson in the 1950s.  After that if Ii needed persuading that Zombies are worth taking seriously then Shaun of the Dead with Simon Pegg just rocked my socks.

Oh, I'd forgotten about Shaun of the Dead-- I love that one! Brilliant!

That's the name of that movie!  I've been trying to figure that out for a while now.  That was a pretty good one.

Thanks everybody. You just tripled the number of people that wished me a happy birthday. Maybe I'm better liked than I thought.  :azn:

I haven't seen any good zombie films in a while, but if you like funny vampire flicks check out Blood on the Highway. It's way over the top and one of the best I've seen in years.
