hi blunt,

Thanks for doing that for me. Yeah, things are still pretty hectic. Just moved into a bigger house, which is good. Nipper has his own room so we're trying to get him into a routine and get him used to going to sleep by himself -- he prefers being rocked to sleep!

I'm also trying to edit a book me and a friend of mine wrote. The project is taking AGES! It's really frustrating. I get 1/2 an hour here or there to work on it. My friend's wife has just had their second baby, so he's got even less time than me. It's frustrating because it's the most coherent thing we've written together and I think, if it ever gets finished, it has real prospects of getting published.

(That's just my assessment -- what I'm saying is that I think it's better than some books I've read, not that that means much in the crapshoot world of international publishing!!!)

Anyway, best go.

Thanks again,
Gary

Sorry, mate - only just saw this :/

No probs :afro:  Hope you're settling-in well.  I hate moving house - I still have unopened boxes in the shed from the last time we moved ::)

With the nipper - My missus used to sit and rub our youngest's back for hours, trying to get him off to sleep.  Whenever she stopped and tried to walk away, he yowled.  I think it was keeping him awake, myself.  One night, I took over, and just rested my hand on his back - kept it still.  After a while, he opened an eye to check I was still there and then drifted off to sleep without a hitch, in under five minutes.  After that, my wife did the same, and it worked like a charm every time.  I think they just don't like falling asleep on their own.  Come to think of it, I'm not sure I do either  :afro:

Best of luck with the book - I reckon it'll be great, and worth all the time and effort you put into it

Thanks for popping in.  Nice to hear from you :afro:
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

We had a little musical box - it hung from the banisters on the landing.  You pulled a string to set it going.  It then played for just a few minutes, giving the small fry the feeling of some company as they drifted off.

Thanks for the tips, blunt and joyce
