Sadly, I think you're probably right ::)

I assume each one of these ip addies relates to a comp this hacker has managed to get a trojan into, with the possible exception of that whole range he's got his hands on. I've searched quite a few of these addresses so far, and they originate from all over the place -- USA, France, Sweden, Russia, etc., etc.

OMG!! Soylent Green is people!!!

No problem, Grill.

I have a nasty feeling it's going to get worse, yet. I just talked to another forum admin who's been getting 18,000 attacks per hour. Several from the same ip addresses that have been hitting us.

Thanks, Ed. Seems a strange target for a hacker. Supposing they did crack my password, what might they do with it? Post a brilliant story in next months crit session under my username?  :cheesy:

I don't know, but it's a possibility :afro:

From what I've seen since I started investigating, I get the impression they brute force hack accounts, and then when they have the password they post spam on the forum. It's also possible that they can post links to infected sites where you might pick up a virus or a trojan that will let them use your computer to run bots from, I suppose. I don't really see the point of it all. I've never seen the point in spamming, because I don't know anybody who would buy stuff from a spam link anyway. :scratch:
