RIP Nicholas Courtney, aka Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart has died today at 81. I believe he has featured in five series of Dr Who as the archetypal British Army Officer. He's appeared in more Dr Who episodes than any individual Dr Who!

Born in Cairo in 1929.

Give them marching orders, sir.

I've trying to find that "Chap with the wings there, five rounds rapid!" clip from the Daemons on YouTube but it seems to have vanished. Happy memories.

Happy memories indeed. He added considerable dignity to more than a few seriously naff episodes. Always enjoyed his character.

Another legend leaves us.

Thanks for the link, Geoff. So many familiar faces from so long ago.
Some may say slaughtered is too strong a word...but I like the sound of it.

Thanks for reposting that here, Geoff! Lovely stuff.
