I got one of these a few days ago and its pretty cool. I put a pic of it up on y facebook, which should be open to see if you need to. If not feel free to add me via my website to see it if you would like. Anyway, I saw on Joe's twitter that several of these are still available for the US promotion. Also, there will be a short run for a UK promotion as well coming up. If interested, you might want to keep an eye out for it on his blog or twitter.  cheers

What is a book plate? Is it like a printing plate, or is it literally a plate you can eat your dinner from? Sorry to show my ignorance, but I've never heard of anything like this before scratch

I had no idea either, but it ended up being a large heavy weight sticker you can put on the inside of your book.
