Hey, has anybody heard anything about this: http://www.briankeene.com/?p=6140 ???

Looks like another case of the big guy beating the crap out of the little...

I've been seeing a lot of posts from various authors on facebook and now some have taken an official logo as their pic. Doesn't sound fun for sure.

Wow, what a bunch of scumbags. It's amazing that such an outwardly reputable company could turn like that. I bet they are relying on the fact that most of their authors (through their actions and lack of payment) don't have the finances to seek recompense in law. No doubt the first time it happens they'll quickly go into bankruptcy proceedings and nobody will get a penny. Surely there must be grounds for criminal proceedings by now, though?

Sounds like class-action lawsuit time to me. If they get enough of those authors together it should be easy to find a lawyer willing to work for a percentage.

Another link, if anybody's interested-- Stacy Dittrich says she's suing... most of her rights are still in Dorchester's clutches, and they are selling e-books they don't have the rights to-- you know, besides not sending her royalties....

I think she's pissed...  :afro:

Incredible. It must be driving these authors insane. Surely the MD and board of directors are looking at time behind bars for this. It's theft, plain and simple.

Hi all--

Dorchester is screwing authors of all genres. My romance writing friends have been affected by this, too, haven't been paid for their work, or have their books held hostage. Brian Keene is speaking out for thousands of authors.

Here is another blog post I came across...

This is a blow to a lot of really good authors. Total shame.

For a while the forums over at Dorchester where getting riddled with comments as well, but I doubt they left that up.

Yes. :afro:

It's utterly absurd. Keene mentioned on twitter he's had some writers (who have books coming out from Dorchester) complaining about the boycott-- his point was why would a writer think they weren't going to get screwed too, when there are so MANY writers being abused by the company-- , and while I can see their fears about their own sales, I don't see how this isn't a case requiring solidarity. Writers need to stick together, don't they? Otherwise the suits win-- too few writers have the resources to fight it in court on their own.

I understand Dorchester has stopped CUSTOMERS from posting negative comments on their facebook page, too. Ridiculous...
