This time PublishAmerica posted an ad that they can "send your book to J. K. Rowling" for $49.

See how J. K. Rowling responded (through a spokesperson) at these links:

...and I have decided to go ahead and create a page on The Horror Zine to warn new authors here:

Believe it or not, many new authors are still in the dark about PublishAmerica. I get emails from them, but most contact me after they have signed the contract. Not one so far has had a happy experience to report. If even one new author reads my Beware Page first and doesn't sign a contract with PublishAmerica because of it, then I feel what I do is worth while.

If one chooses to self-publish, then I feel Lulu or CreateSpace or LSI are better options than PublishAmerica, because in my opinion, PublishAmerica is also self-publishing.

Thanks,

After all the bad stuff I've heard about PublishAmerica, I'm surprised they're still going. But then, there are still a lot of writers out there who haven't got a clue (I was one of them, once, although some might say I'm still not on the trolley)  ;)

Stay in touch! I don't mean that in a pervy way.

Thanks, Jeani. A lot of amateur writers have short memories - they are so focussed on their own writing and eager to be published.

With sleazy tricks like this, it's easy to see how ill-informed writers might be tempted.

But even if PA got their books in front of JKR, what do they think she'd do? Champion their writing, publish their books herself?
