Hugh Fox, a writer of the "beat generation," passed away Sunday at age 79 of cancer.

Always a cheerful, upbeat person who was generous with his caring personality, Hugh contributed fiction to The Horror Zine twice. For The Horror Zine, he wrote unusual, dream-like stories that featured protagoinists who were his own age.

His obituary states:

Hugh Bernard Fox, Jr., Phd. East Lansing Born February 12, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the Late Hugh B. Fox and Helen (Mangan) died on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the age of 79. Hugh was Professor Emeritus at Michigan State University having taught in the department of American Thought and Language. He was a poet and writer having over 200 novels published.

The Horror Zine has published the last story Hugh ever wrote here:

I will miss Hugh very much. No matter what he was going through, even with his cancer, he always cared about how YOUR day was going. Now the world is a little less bright.

Good journey, Hugh.
