cover art for me book
« on: June 17, 2005, 03:57:55 PM »
This is a low res version of a design done by a designer for my Escaping Reality thriller due out next month.
The designer is Spanish. My publisher sent him his own spanish translation of my synopsis. He was worried it would come back as a naked lady with a bicycle stuck in her ear (what's wrong with that? I asked) a la Salvadore Dali. Instead this came back. What do you think, Guys. I said like wow!

It's great!  I'd pick that off the shelf, even without the familiar name on it.

Phew, glad you liked it.

The original version had my name much bolder and pasted onto the gun barrel. My son suggested using an inverse emboss to make it look stamped into the gun barrel. I said but my name won't look much.
He said: "Well, that's better! Sorry Dad, but who are you? Nobody."
"What?" gulp
"No one will buy the book because of your name, but they might cos of a striking cover."
Damn him, he's right.
"And I don't know of another book cover art where a fiction author has his name as part of the art. Cool."

I like it, Geoff - good cover :afro:

Congrats on getting into print, too.  You'll have to give us the details when it's out
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]
