By now, probably most of you have already seen Brian Keene's post about the proven plagiarist David Boyer here:

http://www.briankeene.com/?p=9232

If you have lived in a cave (LOL) and are not familiar with David Boyer (and all his aliases), please see these links:

http://b-thoughtful2.blogspot.com/

and

http://www.thehorrorzine.com/Beware/Boyer/DavidBoyerPlagiarist.html

In the meantime, here is what David Boyer had to say about the Brian Keene post:

Fwd: Lawsuit against me?
From: "Dave Boyer" <dboyer5950@gmail.com>
To: jeani_rector@yahoo.com, rick@idealgases.com, b.thoughtful@gmail.com

What a bunch of losers. Go get a life.

I have recently looked over a blog post by some foul-mouthed redneck named Brian Keene here http://www.briankeene.com/?p=9232 In whihc I am referred to as a "bag of fuck." among other things. This is merely one more of about a thousand such blog posts about me posted up since last October, in which writers are accusing me of being the biggest mass-plagiarist in the history of the internet.
In adddition, I have received death threats, threats of bodily harm and torture, and have been acccuse of being the following:

A murderer
A Killer of small animals
A Homosexual
A Bisexual
A trasnvestite
A Burglar
A Child molester
A theif who is scamming the state of Indiana out of disability checks

And that's only the tip of the iceberg, too. Back in the spring, I submitted a CD full of this material to my local detective, who has since turned it over to a local prosecutor, who I am sure still has it on record. In a nutshell? I am rapidly tiring of being followed around {stalked is the term under the law} by these borderline sociopaths, and what they don't seem to understand is, I, too, have the same rights they do to legal counsel, and I can sue them as well, for copyright infringment, harrassment, slander, and so on, at the state's expense, too. If you are representing these people, I feel sorry for you, because they are nothing but cyber stalkers themselves in the eyes of the law, and will be treated as such.

I have no sympathy for anyone who sends death threats to another party. That's just as bad, if not worse, than the offense about which the sender feels aggrieved.

That being said, however, I find it ironic that David Boyer thinks he can "sue them as well, for copyright infringment [sic]." That is just too funny. And sad. How delusional do you have to be to think like that?

jrector

David Boyer receives no death threats. Him saying so are merely more of his lies.

He also has no CD and has no prosecuter. He has threatened to sue me for two years and I have never been served. Not ony that, but he once impersonated a lawyer and sent me threatening emails. He backed down when I asked him for his legal license number and he wouldn't give it to me, and I also asked him why a real law firm would use yahoo.com ( a free email service) as their email.

Please familiarize yourself with David Boyer before you feel any sympathy for him.

He has sent me more emails than I can say where he calls me nasty names that refer to my female anatomy. He cannot take responsibility for his own actions, which include plagiarism, theft, lies, and monetary theft. David Boyer is an online predator and B. Thoughtful, Rick Moore, and myself are trying to help the writing community by warning them.

David Boyer tends towards the dramatic. Over the last few years, he has also posted that he is dying of cancer, his mother is dying of cancer, he has broken an arm, his mother has broken an arm, he himself has had a stroke and his brother has to take over (he has no brother).

Please see this post to get an idea of how dramatic David Boyer can get:

Also, please look at these links to see all the lies, thefts, and plagiarisms that David Boyer has done and continues to do:

Wow! I did a search of David Boyer on Amazon and quite a few entries came up, this one at the top:

http://www.amazon.com/Horror-Prodigies-Legends-David-Boyer/dp/0874260779/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317930578&sr=8-1#_

Amazon lists the author as David Boyer, but the cover lists David Byron as the editor. Is this an alias?

The TOC has quite a few known writers, and it says Jeani Rector wrote the introduction.

Were you aware of this one already, Jeani?

If you google "Horror Prodigies and Legends" it returns a ton of results, making this project look very legit.

Scary.

jrector

One of David's books says that I wrote an introduction? This is news to me. I need to do something about that. Thanks so much for this information.

Again, everyone, please protect yourself and familiarize yourself with David Boyer. His aliases include (but are not limited to) David Byron, Iron Dave, Doc Byron, Doc Creeper, Sean Killian, Jack Sawyer, Jack Burnett, Tobey King, George LaCroix, Grant Dean, Dylan Cook, Christian Loche, Syd Slasher, Leland Gaines, Leo Wolfe, and he also uses women's names too, such as Kelli Ross and Kelli Kelso.

I encourage everyone to visit these sites to see the crimes that David Boyer has committed:

And on page 111, he has an interview with you! So he either made the entire thing up or he ripped off someone else's interview with you.

This guy is unreal. He just keeps going. It's as if he enjoys winding people up more than trying to make money from stealing other people's work. I sincerely hope he gets everything he deserves, and then some.

Thankfully, people like him are rare, but I know somebody of the same ilk, and nothing will stop them. They truly are agents of despair. The only way you can maintain sanity is to escape from them (difficult to do on the internet), or to accept they will do what they do, and there isn't much you can do to stop them. My guess is even if he gets prison time he will be back to his old tricks in no time.

HWA supports call for investigation into David Boyer

Please find below a letter sent from the Horror Writers Association to the
Office of the Indiana Attorney General. A complaint has been lodged by new
HWA member Ferrell (Rick) Moore against David Boyer, who operates under many
different aliases and who is alleged to have plagiarized dozens, if not
hundreds, of writers, including many members of the HWA. The Board were
pleased to support the call for an investigation into Boyer - it is a shame
that our industry does not have the clout or the finances of the music
industry, we therefore must rely on legal authorities to action copyright
law on our behalf. Read more at the link below. If you have been plagiarized
by Boyer please write to the address below and add to your weight to the
complaint.

Consumer Protection Division
Office of the Indiana Attorney General
302 W. Washington St., 5th Floor
Indianapolis, IN 46204

Dear Mr. Irons:

It has come to our attention that you may be investigating the case of an
Indiana resident named David Boyer (File No. 10-CP-62157). Mr. Boyer has allegedly
engaged in possible criminal activity, principally plagiarism and consumer
fraud, and several HWA members have expressed concern over his activities.

We would like to urge you to investigate. As the world's largest
organization serving professional writers of horror and dark fantasy, we
take plagiarism and copyright infringement very seriously. A writer's work
is both their income and their legacy, and we strongly support an author's
rights and duties to protect their work. Many writers don't have the
resources of a large corporation behind them or the personal resources
necessary to pursue civil action, so we must rely on the criminal justice
system to protect our interests. Individuals engaging in activities that
take profits from those who created original work must not be allowed to
continue this injurious behavior.

We trust you will take the appropriate action, and thank you for your
attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Rocky Wood
President, Horror Writers Association

I want to thank elay2433 for letting me know that my name is used in the David Boyer book titled Horror Prodigies and Legends.

In truth, I have no idea if I wrote a Foreword for him or not. I have no memory of it. Back in early 2008, I had no idea of who and what David Boyer is. In fact, when he first approached me by email, he told me his name was David Byron. At that time he requested a story from me and I gave him Cat's Eye for his "magazine" which may have been titled New Voices in Horror or perhaps New Voices in Fiction.

I have no recollection of ever signing any contract, so I wrote a letter to Whitmore Publishing asking if there is a contract or not, and if there is none, then I want any mention of me removed out of Horror Prodigies and Legends. I feel pretty sure that if I agreed to a Foreword I would at least know about it.

elay2433

Your welcome Jeani.  :afro: Hope you're able to get it all straightened out.

And don't forget about your "interview", as Pharo pointed out

QuoteAnd on page 111, he has an interview with you! So he either made the entire thing up or he ripped off someone else's interview with you.

Not sure if that's something you granted, but if not, you'll probably want to follow up on that too.

jrector

I thnk David Boyer's day in court may be looming soon. Here is a new Victoria Strauss post on him:

A bit of good news, I suppose!

Prior to publication, one of this fellow's alias's got red-flagged on the monthly table of contents of a popular daily e-zine - and the piece got pulled.

Dear Desertwomble: What daily ezine?

I've got a feeling it was EDF -- http://www.everydayfiction.com/ but you had better wait for Womble, because I'm not 100% sure. He did show me the listing with Boyer's name on, but my memory is shot :idiot:
