Imagine how surprised I was when someone here at Cafe Doom informed me that there was input from me included in David Boyer's book titled Horror Prodigies and Legends.

Which goes to show, David may have something from you, too, in one of his books. It is best to check B. Thoughtful's blog at http://b-thoughtful2.blogspot.com/ to see if you find yourself there, because if David Boyer is using any of your stuff, you would be the last person on earth he would tell.

Anyway, I wrote to Whitmore Publishing:

Dear Whitmore Publishing:

Unless you have a contract signed by me proving that I gave my permission to have anything written by me, Jeani Rector, in the book titled Horror Prodigies and Legends by David Boyer, I am hereby demanding that anything that has my name on it be immediately removed from this book.

All details are listed below:

Paperback: 266 pages Publisher: Whitmore Publishing (May 18, 2010) Language: English ISBN-10: 0874260779 ISBN-13: 978-0874260779

I await your response to me at jeani_rector@yahoo.com and I thank you.

Sincerely,
Jeani Rector

Dear Ms. Rector,  I just wanted to let you know that in light of David Boyer's history, we are halting sales and distribution of Mr. Boyer's book, effective immediately.  Sincerely, Jessica Stillwell, Author Service Manager, Dorrance Publishing/Whitmore Publishing

I seriously hope this guy ends up behind bars. Soon, and for a long time.

I think he's likely insane - the serious delusional kind that's diagnosable.  :idiot:

Here Jeani has to run around and jump through hoops protecting her work and name, and in this book he has an interview (I'm guessing wholly fabricated) with her where they chat like they're old pals. Got to be a little off your rocker to publish phony interviews with folks that despise you.

If you're curious, you can read the interview on google books here: http://books.google.com/books?id=a2cICgv_z_cC&pg=PA23&lpg=PA23&dq=%22horror+prodigies+and+legends%22&source=bl&ots=xsoGhwmqVc&sig=3M3wL7sxUgHAyDMm2plpEjgQhmI&hl=en&ei=4tudTpbKB_PUiAKkluWPCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDsQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=rector&f=false

You might have to search "Rector" to find what I'm talking about.

So, from what I am understanding, even though Whitmore Publishing will stop distributing Horror Prodigies and Legends, Amazon will still sell that book until their supply on hand runs out. Lovely. :(

Ed

I'm pretty sure you can hit Amazon with a DMCA cease and desist order, Jeani. They should take it down straight away, otherwise they're leaving themselves open to prosecution, AFAIK.

Good idea, Ed. Plus, I have a contact email at Amazon from the last time I had to deal with them about David Boyer....last time was in 2009 when he stole an entire manuscript from me. I had to prove to Amazon that it was really mine instead of "Jack Burnett."

You know how I proved it? The "Look Inside This Book" feature showed that David Boyer had not removed my name from the inside of the book! He only put Jack Burnett on the cover. What a doof.

Details on the theft of my manuscript (and many more David Boyer thefts) including all correspondence I had with Amazon about it here:
