Sad days. I see Murky Depths just decided to close their doors.

Oh crap -- another one bites the dust :/
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Tough days... just had a message that all LOTLD anthologies have been cancelled, too. A quick shuftie at the website suggests this is all related to the massive losses being made on each one.

The world is changing...

"If you want to write, write it. That's the first rule. And send it in, and send it in to someone who can publish it or get it published. Don't send it to me. Don't show it to your spouse, or your significant other, or your parents, or somebody. They're not going to publish it."

That's too bad. Kim and William bought a novella from me a couple years ago. I hope Damnation books keeps on rolling. They aren't afraid to publish cross-genre work, unlike many other small press horror publishers.

Oh dear - I have only just heard. Terry Martin - Murky Depths editor - and I go back a good number of years having first met at FantasyCon then the other Cons in the UK. Having closed our own Escape Velocity I can appreciate the pressures but I'd hoped that particularly excellent graphic mag would have survived.

There's a special deal going on that may interest American members: Murky Depths is offering any back issue for $12.50 including shipping to the U.S. There are 18 to choose from. Click here for info.

I saw the link on Alan Baxter's blog, and bought issue #16, which contains his story, Mirrorwalk as well as Teamwork by Jonathan Pinnock.

Any idea if they are doing this to try and stay afloat?

No, sorry. I don't know. I would assume that if they still have print copies available, they're doing it to try to offload as many as possible so the magazines don't have to be destroyed.
