Rocky Wood has made the official announcement- "Charles Day has accepted the role of Mentor Chairman, effective immediately. We have a small backlog of members looking for a mentor. If you are willing to mentor another member please write to Charles via me at president@horror.org (Charles will have an HWA email shortly)."

"I'm excited with my new position and wanted to reach out to all my fellow writer friends and horror writers in general. If you have not yet joined the HWA, please do so. There are so many great things going on, including the Mentor Program, where new and inspiring writers will get the opportunity to pair up with seasoned writer/active members to help you with your writing endeavors. Email me with any questions at cday3067@hotmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you." --@Charles Day

Congratulations! Sounds as if you'll have a very productive and useful role.

"If you want to write, write it. That's the first rule. And send it in, and send it in to someone who can publish it or get it published. Don't send it to me. Don't show it to your spouse, or your significant other, or your parents, or somebody. They're not going to publish it."

Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Thank you everyone. I'm thrilled with this new role! I've been mentored since I started taking my writing seriously, and  I firmly believe in the importance of having mentors help in honing our craft.  What would we do without them?

I also have many writer friends, some I came to know by sharing the pages in books that have been published. It's great to be assisting them with this venture.

The HWA has taught me so much since I joined last year. I look forward to doing more with them.

Thank you again for the kind words, fellow cafe doomers!! Hehehehe!

Just had a glance at the website - I don't even come close to having met the criteria for entry.  :/  Note to self: must try harder.
