OK lots to say so one at a time. Sorry, I only remember the funny stuff, except for fairly serious stuff for me, that I'm not blabbing about. I've been networking like a bugger - and it's slowly working.

At the Annual Writer's Conference I met Fay Weldon. She writes romantic garbage, but is good enough to make a million or many out of it. In one workshop session she was getting agitated at people asking how to overcome writers' block. (I have the reverse prob - writers diarrhoea - I keep producing crap!) Finally a woman asked: "I have writers' block after chapter three. What can I do?"

Fay Weldon said: "I'm sorry to be cruel, love, but you are not stuck - you have finished. Have you tried baking cakes?"

To be continued...

Oh, Geoff. Fay Weldon does NOT write romantic crap ... exclusively. I've just finished reading a collection of her short stories "A Hard Time to be a Father". She has a wonderful style. Couldn't put the thing down once I started reading.

What a wonderful response that was re writer's block.

Can't wait to hear more of your bon mots from the Conference!

I've read her autobiography - written with tremendous style.  And some amazing things have happened to her.   Love the quote.
