Hi all, A short story of mine has been published in ebook format (a cool flash 'book' where you can turn the pages!).

The Dvorak Conspiracy - a tale with a freaky tin monkey, about why we are still using the crappy, inefficient QWERTY keyborad.

You can buy it on eBay for a quid!

Search for "dvorak conspiracy" on eBay, or follow this link, if it works...

OK, Grin. Liked your pitch, paid me money. Now, how do I get the ebook?

Geoff

I've never used eBay but I would've thought once you pay your money you get sent the ebook via email? If you have any troubles, let me know and I'll contact the publisher.

btw, thank you very much for buying the story -- i hope you get your quid's worth!  :afro:

GR, my husband has used Ebay a bit, so I've seen some of the workings of it.  Is it the publisher who's put your story on there?

The reason I ask is that, following up the link, I'm getting the impression that he's put up ONLY ONE copy of the ebook for sale.  As soon as someone (presumably Geoff) has said, 'Yes, I'll have it,' the mechanism is gone for anyone else to get a copy the most straightforward way.  (Presumably they could contact the seller and enquire about availability.  But it looks as if it's sold - gone - end of story.)  I believe that the more normal use of Ebay for selling a whole stock of anything is to put up one example for the auction, and let the auction run its full course, so other buyers have the incentive of open action, while at the same time mentioning that there are other items the same that you can 'buy now' at whatever fixed price you set.

On the other hand, if this is some really clever marketing ploy, I'd love to understand it, so I'm watching this space...

BTW, please visit the Doom Flash #19 thread, which needs some votes to creep to a conclusion this week, having come a long way second in the public significance stakes to the London explosions.  I'm posting here as this seems to be the only active thread at the moment.

GR,   Jacky Fry has e-mailed your e-book to me :)  I haven't had time to read it yet but will let fly when I have.

I have read and enjoyed your story, The Dvorak Conspiracy, Grin. I would have written it differently, putting at least one extra twist into the conspiracy angle, but I recommend it to one and all.  You have some excellent lateral thinking comic concepts: "He wondered if mental illness was contagious and expelled as much air from his lungs as he could."

And, the sheer beauty of turning the pages with a point and click, makes its reading a pleasure. An excellent idea for an ebook. Congrats!

Congrats on the e-book, Grin :afro:  If you feel like reciprocating, Geoff has a few e-book shorts over at Horrormasters, for the cost of a few cents.  He's obviously too shy to push them himself ;)

www.horrormasters.com and look for Geoff Nelder in amongst the authors.
