Jeez. Just went into Tesco to buy some ink... £54 !!!! I can get a new printer for that. Needless to say, I came home without any. Alas, the boy has some homework that the school insists is printed off, so I'm back down to Tesco to buy it after all.

Ouch.

I buy (mail order from stinkyink) ink jet cartridges for 99p for my Epson. The printer only cost £27.

I thought the same thing a while back, Del -- so I bought a cheap printer thinking it would save me money. They were one step ahead of me, though -- the printer came with cartridges that had hardly any ink in them.

The kids were costing us a fortune in ink until we changed over to a Kodak printer. I'm very impressed with it. It cost something like £70, but came with full ink cartridges, and the two replacement cartridges work out to be about £30 in total. It's changed our lives -- we don't have to be careful about what we do and don't print anymore.

My wife recently bought a used color laser printer from her school for $30. I went to look up how much the replacement cartridges cost and almost passed out  LOL. I think it is close to $300 for all 4. I still might pass out. Needless to say I have been very stingy with the little bit that is left in the original cartridges. No wonder they wanted to get rid of it.

I've got a Brother toner printer.  The toner is around $80, but it lasts a loooong time.  I got it back when I was submitting my stories through snail mail before I was acquainted with the Internet.  I had a lot of problems with printers that used ink.  I took a sledge hammer to one in a rage.  I've had the Brother for several years and don't have a bad thing to say about it.

We've got another printer I use for work and for printing MS. It's an HP Laserjet, which only does black and white, but it's incredibly fast. The cartridge for that is about £120 and lasts at least a year. Still hurts when you have to buy one, though.

I refill my cartridges myself. The kit was 11.99 when I bought it and it's been about 6 years. It's a pain because you have to clean the cartridges, and after a certain amount of time they are designed to stop working. Still...

I have one of these, as well, and my experience has been good with it, too. I use my b/w daily, and the cartridge lasts forever it seems. The color one is a xerox, not sure if that matters as to cost of a cartridge or not.

Earlier today I asked the hubby to get me new ink cartridges for my Lexmark 3-in-one for Valentine's Day...nothing is sexier than new ink!!!   :smitten:
