I can't find the original thread, but I wanted to say thanks to you, Sharon for that Woman's Corner link. They have accepted three of my flashes for their September 1st issue!
Very pleased and just wanted to say thanks for pointing me in their direction.

Hey Missy! You're very welcome! That's excellent news! Good at ya!  I'm looking forward to reading them. BTW, they do  a nice job of matching up graphics with stories, too.

Thanks, Sharon.
I keep wondering if they'll let me do a little re-write on them. I'm sure I could make them better. I read them this morning and groaned a bit. There are some bits I know I could make tighter.
I wonder if it's worth emailing the editor.

Congratulations, Missy  and well done to Sharon for posting the lead :afro:

What I would do is send the editor your second draft and a little note to explain - that way they've got it and he/she can take it or leave it.

well done, Missy - and Sharon for intra networking assistance!!

Follow the wise Blunt's advice, Missy. But I will say that writing is rather like having painted a complex picture - you think you've finished but there's always another dab you think you should do. I think it was James Joyce (who spent weeks on a paragraph and agonised on when to send his MS to his publisher) who said that  you never complete a story, you merely abandon it!

Lisa (the editor) is a wonderful person to work with. I found a typo in my name--and she fixed it up immediately. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. If I get a chance today I might just go through the stories and drop her an email.
I'm trying to remember that she likes them. I'm not good at believing stuff like that about my writing.
I'll see if I get time today, if not they can stay how they are.

Here's a link to Woman's Corner Magazine http://womanscorner.com/index.html, where you will find pubs from several of Cafe Doom's writers!

Here's mine (yes, I'm bragging!): "C-C-CATastrophe" at  http://womanscorner.com/id30.html

And I believe Missy and WelshPixie have pieces in there, too. But the names are different.

Missy is your pen name Janet Bradshaw? Great flash! I loved "Fun Uncle Jimmy." http://womanscorner.com/id28.html

WelshPixie's fine flash is there, as well  http://womanscorner.com/id31.html

If I missed anyone, let me know!

Thanks, Joyce! My story was one of those, "I wonder if it will EVER get published!" ones.  :D

Thanks Sharon and Joyce.
Janet Bradshaw is my real name. I haven't thought about a pen name and all that malarkey! It's not very glam though is it? I might have a little re-think.
I like the bio where it describes me as a 'working mother and writer.'
I will have to tell my husband that one, oh how he'll laugh............

PS Fun Uncle Jimmy- could I have said 'fingers' any more? I groaned this afternoon when I saw that.

Well done girlies!

Ed

Wow!  Well done, one and all :afro:

On the contrary, I thought that was very effective, the persistent memories of creepy Uncle Jimmy's fingers!
