"Oh, no - that God damned slave driver, Blunt, is trying to pry some information from us again!" :/

Yes, sorry folks, tis true.  But it is for a worthy cause, so dig deep into your pockets and pull out those grubby dog-eared manky old bits of paper with your very best stories and poems on.  We need them to give to the various readers we have lined-up to make them into audio files - which will be podcast to the entire universe.  Well, quite a few people anyway :afro:

Grin has already put forth two of his stories, but we need a load more, and poems too.

When we're ready to roll with a new, updated CafeDoom site, and live podcasts, we will be going on a publicity drive - so we also need your recommendations on good places for us to contact, in order to spread the word.

Please make the effort and give me your suggestions on this thread.  Without everybody's input here, we can't move forward, and I'd hate to abandon this project after all the effort we've expended on it to date.

Okay, you BLOODSUCKER, you've got my submission for September.  What about Flash Fiction for the PODS? I know they're short, but they might work in packets of themes, a la our weekly efforts. What do you think?

Yep - definitely.  We should have a range of pieces of varying lengths, but most of all I need a list to work from, because I haven't got time to search through them all and pull out the best ones.  The winners will be a good place to start, but we've had so many good pieces that didn't win, also.  If you remember any that you or somebody else did, post them below, please.

Thanks for your September submission, Sharon :afro:  Sorry I haven't got around to reading it yet, but I will

Do you need someone to go back through the Flash Challenge postings and post the winners and runners up in this thread? Would that help? Or confuse?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Sharon :afro:

I'm up to my eyeballs in coding the pages of the new site and trying to figure out cascading style sheets and PHP.  It's a bit like having the top of your skull lifted and then somebody giving your brains a beating with and egg whisk. :cheesy:

So if anybody wants to lighten the load by making up lists, even suggesting their own stories, poems, etc., it would be great, and it would help me out a lot.  Some of it will make for content on the new pages I'm building, and some will be recorded in audio format too.  Could do with a few good images from our gfx crew as well - otherwise I'm going to end up doing all that as well.  Many hands, and all that

Well you probably know I have a lot of "poetry" lying around, which you are free to use since...well no-one else wants them :D

Hey Blunt,
if everyone consents (I do) then the stories from the last short story competition, early this year, has some rippin' good reads as well. Goeff's would be a winner (because it was the winner), as would others from that comp.

I started a new thread to post all the Flash Challenge winners (25 GREAT little stories) and used the bylines that I found there. So, if anyone (Addledone,Walker, Welsh Pixie?) wants to change their title or byline, please let me know.

Thanks :afro:  Could you pick a few out that you think are your best, please?  It would be useless for me to try and pick some out - I don't know very much about poetry, at all.

Good idea, Walker, there are a few good tales there.  Some need a bit of revision though, IMO.  (Not that I'm any kind of expert)  I'll take a look at them when I've got time and have a fresh look at them.

Sharon - thanks for doing that :afro:  Every bit of help makes things easier all round.

Well what makes you think I know anything about poetry

well here's a few:

Congregation of Beasts

Praise him
With growls and grunts
Preach in his name
With bestial fury
Live his word
Sordid and petty
Lie in his name
Self-righteous and blasphemous
Convert in his name
Force them to their knees
Kill in his name
For wealth and pride
Molest in his name
Cover up the shame
You'll never realize it's him

The Hopeful Heart Attack

I laughed at continuance
The day at the Hopeful Heart Attack
I recalled a string of futile events
Too pointless to be exact
I reigned in every alley on the corners
Of the Hopeful Heart Attack
I spoke only in revolting terms
Surpass, a way to gain freedom
Deteriorate to the point of scurrying
I wish I could have a hopeful heart attack
My mind settles on the task
What you will, to be found in the flask
A brand new kind of poison
Venom for my hopeful heart attack
Industrious sales pitches for a revolutionary idea
Get a pacemaker that destroys your gear
Eager to please, we guarantee
That this will be
Your final hopeful heart attack

Papa Coined a New Phrase

There was a time
When I scorched a hole
In my father's manly chest
And climbed inside to feed off
His heavy heart
This is all the warmth you ever gave
And let me know if it suits you fine

There was a time
When I cracked open
My father's skinny skull
And gazed inside at all his memories
This is all the knowledge you ever gave
And I hope you are not mad at me

There was a time
When I cut off
my father's able arm
So that it might guide me firmly
Through my decades and crusades
This is all the guidance you ever gave
And I wish I didn't have to disturb you

All of a sudden it came to me
That my father's battered body
Truly meant something to me
And it sunk in like an aeroplane

Sprechen Sie Sympathy

14 Stunden in der Hölle
A nightmare this must be
Feuer, nur Feuer uberall
Engulfing this city
Laufende Fackeln, Stücke des Vaters
I have no more screams left
Geflohen in den Garten
But no one is safe, when the heavens rains death
Stolpern aus dem Schutt heraus
Over these broken streets
Auftstiegen einer neuen Dämmerung

Swastika's Heart

Whitey, you are the scream
from the ossuary sounding the wrong
Bend the truth to fit your lies

What do you think of my story "No Man's Land" for the December podcast?

I think that's an excellent story  (especially for December)
