I have some really rubbish news... :-(

http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/viewarticle.aspx?id=288162

I can't believe it. Very disappointed, of course.

The silver lining is that I got a phone call from Press Gazette this morning, and I'm through to the last eight of the Press Cadets competition. Whooo-hoooo!

Congrats on getting through to the final 8, Les, even if the rest of your post was garbage    ;)

Sounds like MR REPORTER is going to have to investigate this offal story.

When Les helped me with my book signing in his city of Carlisle on September 24th, the main front page leader article was about a traffic light!  :)

But isn't this why so many people want to escape the reality of big city excitement and warzones, and head for such peaceful havens?

Yes. No question about it. Where I'm from, it's big news when the cattle get out.
Seriously.

Well done, Les :afro:

We already have to do all that rubbish malarchy.  Three separate bins.  Now and again you go to chuck something away and stand there scratching your head because you don't know which bin to put it in ::)

Fly-tipping has risen exponentially.

When I moved to Guelph, I had to immerse myself in a home-study course on garbage sorting. Took me three days to wrap my head around the system -- clear green bags, clear blue bags, clear clear bags ...

Did the same sort of head scratching as blunt the other day when I broke a drinking glass, swept up the bits and stood there stupified with the dust pan in my hand. So ... where does a broken glass go? Clear blue bag, clear clear bag ...

Here's a link to the pages I had to print out & study and keep close for constant reference:

If garbage here is not sorted properly, the city employees will not take it ... it sits on the boulevard and must be retrieved and re-sorted.

Whoop! Thanks everyone!  :afro:

The report on the first task has been published in the Press Gazette today... I was 'top two' in that one, thus:

Crikey! Are you sure this is my life?
