I've had the honour of meeting three writers recently that I'd only experienced in a virtual sense.

Last week, Walker and I had a great chat over coffee in Guelph. He was in town for his son's hockey game. Walker is an extremely intelligent, hard working, caring guy who is dedicated to his family and work. He's also a looker!

Geoff Nelder's book signing in Chester yesterday was a great excuse for a meeting! He did fairly well in the sales department, too. Sold 17 books! And yes, he's not bad looking either! Thanks for the impromptu tour through part of the town, Geoff. You know an awful lot of stuff! I'm still thinking about that Bridge of Sighs ...

And, of course, I've touched my flirtybee ... finally.  We haven't been apart for more than a few hours since I arrived at Heathrow last Wednesday. He's everything I expected ... and more. We're carrying on like a couple of giddy school kids. It's a good thing! Sometimes, internet meetings DO work out. Now I've got to deal with the fact that I'll have to head home on a plane next month. [sigh]

It all sounds great :afro:

Funny, I was just thinking that I've met some of the nicest people I've ever met, online, over the past year or so.  Many more than in the real world.

Wish I was jetting around, having all that fun.  Not the snogging with Flirty, though... ahem....
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Yep, we had a great conversation, a few laughs, and I drank way too much coffee...  :P
I'm glad to hear you're safe in flirty's arms and having a great time over there.  To aid the cause, let me just tell you that the weather here is pretty shitty right now-- it's about ten degrees, cloudy, windy and raining off and on. It's the kind of day when you start the woodstove/fireplace and start thinking about hot-chocolate.
Have a great time, Donna, and thank you for the kind words.

Are you sure you went to the correct signing, Donna?  "not bad looking"? The funny moment came when I looked up in a languid spare minute and saw an unmistakable Canadian entwined with her Welshman, out on the pavement many yards away. Internet descriptions and fuzzy photos apart, we just it was us, we pointed and laughed! It is always a real buzz to meet in 3D, personages we only touch electronically the rest of the time. It made my day!

It DOES sound great.  Still waiting for news of a booksigning further south and west, Geoff!  Blunt, we could always jet as far as Yeovil town centre.

Thanks for the weather report, Walker. Oddly enough, England is experiencing above-average temps at the moment. Although there's been some rain and a few foggy mornings, the days have been lovely.

Geoff, there was no question of not recognizing the smiling man in Booklands!

I am feeling so completely happy, comfortable and at ease right now in Shrewsbury. Almost as if part of me has been living here for eons. As much as I love Canada, the thought of returning to WINTER and a space devoid of so much culture and my flirty is rather depressing. Oh well. Will find a solution ... too bad the continental drift doesn't work in my favour!
