New Logo Illustration
« on: November 23, 2005, 11:08:12 PM »
I just finished a new logo illustration for a new e-zine called "Static Movement". They wanted an image of electricity coming from a man's finger. I think I captured it well here.

Hmm, to be honest, I wouldn't have guessed it was electricity if you hadn't told me.  I think the lightning could do with being more jagged, with maybe a bit more plasma flare, a bit more movement.  Very difficult to do realistic lighting, though - I've tried it before, so I know how hard it is.

It's also harder to do in this type of composition - if the energy was hitting something, like another finger, point to point, then it would be easier

The rest is great though :afro:
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

I had actually thought about doing something more detailed where the electricity went from 1 finger on one hand to one finger on another but decided against it. The problem was that this immage is going to be reduced in size when it used. This would make it even harder to see a more detailed image.

Hi again!  Well, have you come to the zine and looked at what the illustration looks like now?  Some people have said that it looks creepy!  LOL
I am posting to all these threads because I had no idea that Paul was showing all of the illustrations here that he did for my zine stories, and was surprised, not mad but surprised.  I wanted to invite you all to the new zine and of course there is the call for submissions.  Hopefully there will be some surprises, I do have other illustrators on the site and I don't think they have put up their illustrations on the internet.
