Spent ages trying to log in tonight. First there was no response at all. Then I got a "Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later." message.

Everything seems back to normal now. You finally put a shilling in the meter, Blunt?

Yeah - must admit I wondered WTF was going on there for a while.  I put a support request in to our hosts, because I went to repair the MySQL databases, thinking that might be the trouble, and when I got into the control panel... they were gone :o  Thought we'd been hacked.  Turns out it was just a problem with MySQL on the server.

Funny part was, the front page of the website was missing too - and that's an html document   Doesn't make any sense.  No problem, though - I kept a backup copy, so it was easy to fix.  :afro: Even if the databases for the forum had gone missing, too, they were backed up yesterday, so we'd only have lost today's posts, which ain't so bad.
Planning is an unnatural process - it is much more fun to do something.  The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression. [Sir John Harvey-Jones]

Well done to you, Ed. Glad it was only temporary.

My daily fix for SF writing went down too :(

I was getting withdrawal symptoms. Well done Ed

BTW a Yahoo senior programmer tweaked my homepage so it should work on those 14k modems with birds pecking at the mile long telephone cables.

I'm not messing with it any more. Taking too much writing time.
